Howdy, I saw the content you added to the North american union article. A very similarly titled article was deleted (by Articles for deletion) a few days ago. XIV does not permit the recreation of articles which were deleted, except by, deletion review. I have tagged the article for deletion, if the article is subtantially similar to the deleted page. If you have any questions, feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page, User_talk:TeaDrinker. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 22:59, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Superhighways.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Superhighways.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. XIV takes copyright very seriously. It may be, deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 02:23, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

I want to help

id like to help with the north american union article. it looks like a pretty weak consensus that the original article was deleted with. this is a commonly used term and needs an article of its own. But its going to be tricky. i think the advice on the talk page was good, it would be a good idea to replace the redirect for the time being and work out the kinks. if the article sticks, then there will be less red tape to cut through in order to get the article name with proper caps restored. --PopeFauveXXIII 09:51, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, you're saying put your redirect back, move the article to my userspace and then somehow apply for a Deletion Review? Wouldn't the current article need to stay in place with the deletion review tag? Hutcher 16:41, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
as it stands, the article will not withstand review and will most likely be deleted again. im suggesting that it be removed it for a few days to avoid compounding the controversy unecessarily and then replace it when the time comes to declare it a legitimate article. --PopeFauveXXIII 18:10, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
DO you still need help creating page on your userspace? It's very simple to do. Just edit you main userpage. And place a link such as /NAU//North American Union on the page, and save it. THen just clink on the link, and add your text. - BillCJ 18:28, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

some links

whats up, thought id throw you a couple of links in case you hadnt seen them yet. the first is a guy who is also trying to restore the article, i assume the version he's got archived is fairly close to the original. the second link is the initial deletion consensus, as you can see, its pretty flimsy and trigger happy. ill pop in tomorrow and work on it a little bit, too tired tonight. ttyl --PopeFauveXXIII 06:39, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Superhighways.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Superhighways.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on XIV under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on XIV. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on XIV (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any XIV page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:36, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

North American Union

Please do not add actual article categories to unfinished sandbox pages such as your draft of User:Hutcher/North American Union. You can add the appropriate categories when it's ready to be moved into article space, but unfinished sandbox pages should not be appearing in article categories in the meantime. Thanks. Bearcat 05:20, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, this is an article he rescued from being deleted to have time to improve it. The categories were already there. I should have told him to disable them when I recommended he move the page toa sandbox. Also, you didn't have to delete the categories - simply putting a colon in front of each cat will do the same thing, and they'll be there when he's ready to move it back to the mainspace. - BillCJ 05:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ccce logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Ccce logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at XIV:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at XIV:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with XIV policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

KAL 007 Request

Hutcher, very good edits to KAL 007! I have a request if you could do it. I noticed that there are two edits that have been posted that have requests for citations. I have the citations. But am blocked. Would you post these citations for me? The first is in the time line of attack section: 18:26:08 GMT - Captain Chun yells, "Retard throttles." First Officer Son responds, "Engines normal, sir." Indicating that Maj. Osipovich's heat seeking missile did not destroy 1 of the 4 engines. Son will again report engines normal at 18:26:45※

The citation is - http://aviation-safety.net/investigation/cvr/transcripts/cvr_ke007.php

The second is in the crash scene section: The 1991 Izvestia series of interviews with the civilian divers who had visited KAL 007 at the bottom starting 7 days from the shootdown reported in amazement that out of the 269 passengers and crew, they found no more than 10 small body parts and one partial torso.※

The citation is - Izvestiya, May 28, 1991, p. 8.

For this second edit, there is need for a slight correction - it should read - ..."10 encouters with the remains of Boeing passengers and one partial torso."

(Here is the whole Izvestia quote from my article in http://www.rescue007.org/docs/TheGreatRussianRuse.pdf page 12

"Captain Mikhail Igorevich Girs: “From Captain Girs’ diary: ‘Submergence 10 October. Aircraft pieces, wing spars, pieces of aircraft skin, wiring, and clothing. But—no people. The impression is that all of this has been dragged here by a trawl rather than falling down from the sky…’”99

“So we were ready to encounter a virtual cemetery. But one submergence went by, then the second, and then the third... During the entire rather lengthy period of our work near Moneron,I and my people had maybe ten encounters with the remains of Boeing passengers. No more than that.”100)

Thanks!

THE Bert Schlossberg?! Excellent, nice to meet you ... I hope you check back and are able to read this. I've learned to be careful about using your site as a reference - there are many gatekeepers at work on XIV. Thankfully, there is plenty of evidence in many other places. I'm fascinated (not in a positive way) by the possibility that Rep. McDonald has been imprisoned for the past 25 years. Are you being blocked. Because of your work on this article? Hutcher (talk) 01:19, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Pleased to meet you too, Hutcher. Yes, I'm blocked because of my work on the KAL 007 article. Re: Larry McDonald - I believe that he was alive through the mid 90's. He may still be alive. By the way, I see that you have done work on the wiki Larry McDonald article. On the conservapedia article on KAL 007 http://www.conservapedia.com/Korean_Airlines_Flight_007 , to which I have heavily contributed, I put a link to an article on Larry McDonald which as yet has nothing but the name. Here it is http://www.conservapedia.com/Larry_P._McDonald . I had hoped that people would contribute to it as there are many, according to the stats of my website, who come to KAL 007 interest through interest in Larry McDonald. Perhaps, you could do for Larry on conservapedia what you've don for him on wikipedia. Thanks much for the citation postings! -- Bert —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.50.118 (talk) 09:52, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

That's scary ... about McDonald and the blocking. I'm a fan of Alex Jones of http://www.prisonplanet.com and that's where I learned of McDonald's appearance on Crossfire just prior to his disappearance. I was amazed at what he revealed and found it too cute that he went missing just a couple months after bad-mouthing the Rockefellers on national TV. I'll take a peek at those other articles ... I unfortunately have alot of articles on the go ... my amateur research takes me in many different directions.
What is your opinion of the apparent Larry McDonald/Western Goals connection to George Patton/Reinhard Gehlen anti-Soviet intelligence networks? Hutcher (talk) 05:26, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

I've been unblocked and am posting again! I've heard of the connection but know little about Patton/ Gehlen networks. Can you gst me reference? also the Alex Jones reference Crossfire interview? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.50.118 (talk) 10:23, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Rumours of a Patton/Gehlen/McDonald connection like this article: http://watch.pair.com/jbs-cnp.html. Prisonplanet basically only embedded a link to Google Video: http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/february2008/140208_b_McDonald.htm Hutcher (talk) 04:30, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks...went through them. Will think them over —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.50.118 (talk) 13:01, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

O.K., Hutcher. Have thought some. Very possible there was a real connection with the Gehlen network either by direct affiliation and belonging, by conspiracy - breathing together in close consort, or by collusion. The last would certainly be opperative. Wached McDonald on video with Buchanan and Bradly. They tried to pin him down to conspiracy - Bradly did, at least. McDonald did a good job but he could have developed the working of "collusion" to show how these things really work. I think you'll be interested in this - http://www.rescue007.org/faq.htm#8 89.138.50.118 (talk) 07:28, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

What's the end-game? I mean something funny is going on ... there were clearly survivors otherwise the Russians would have handed over the remains to calm tensions and then stand by their violation of airspace story. So now they have the survivors but why not do what the Chinese did with their US spy-plane shootdown - interrogate them and potentially barter them for money/concessions/whatever? I guess they didn't want to be seen holding a US congressman and didn't want him released so they sacrificed the entire group.
Where to from here, Bert? I don't see the Russians or Americans reopening this can of worms. It's sounds crazy and impossible but to bust this case open again we almost need a survivor or concrete proof of a survivor inside Russia. Hutcher (talk) 20:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Hutcher, I think it's probably better to continue our conversatrion about this direct through Thanks for your good, good edits and your participation! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.50.118 (talk) 16:37, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Fr-390-willoughby.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Fr-390-willoughby.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets XIV's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

JFK

I have no idea what you are talking about. I've never made the claim that the movie wasn't true to those books. In fact, JFK is one of my all time favorite movies. However, me pointing out that the narrative of the movie stretches some facts, misreads others, and makes up some is not a campaign against the movie or against assassination related articles. I am not going to list everything in that movie that has been debunked but it is easily available on the Internet and even here on XIV. Proposed deletion of William Stamps Farish I

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article William Stamps Farish I, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No claim in article of meeting WP:Notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy XIV's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What XIV is not" and XIV's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Shoot Wrestling earlier definition

Hi Hutcher

I'm the same person as 90.240.49.25 who did the revision to the Shoot wrestling article of 15:51, 23 August 2009 in which I incorportated the earlier use of the term Shoot Wrestling in the pro wrestling business in reference to catch wrestling as a legit sport.

Re: this edit you have made... http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Shoot_wrestling&diff=next&oldid=309616034

It should be pointed out that the term "Shoot Wrestling" would have been confined in the UK to the Professional Wrestling business - your wording "Prior to the emergence of the current sport of Shoot wrestling the term was commonly used in the UK as a synonym for the legitimate sport of catch wrestling." seems to imply widespread mainstream use of the term in the UK!

Had this indeed been the case, kayfabe for British Wrestling would have been seriously undermined, as Kayfabe anywhere in the world would be if the marks found out what a "shoot" was.) As it was, the term "Shoot wrestling" was largely an insider term. Catch wrestling enthusiasts not connected to the pro wrestling business would have used such terms as "catch as catch can", "Lancashire wrestling" or most likely just plain wrestling to refer to the legit sport.

Furthermore, there are documented examples of this use of the term in the US pro wrestling business also. For example, in his autobiography ※, Ric Flair recalls a 1993 incident where wrestler-turned WCW executive Bill Watts at the company offices putting an armlock on colleague Bill Shaw and declaring "Shaw think's he's pretty tough. He used to wrestle in high school. Let's see if he knows how to shoot!" (To Be the Man, Ric Flair with Keith Elliot Greenberg, page 313 of WWE books 2004 paperback edition)

I personally feel that my original wording, "Prior to the emergence of the current sport of Shoot wrestling, the term was commonly used in the professional wrestling business, particularly in the UK, as a synonym for catch wrestling as a legitimate sport." was satifactory and was tempted to simply revert to it, however I thought it fair to cooperate/consult with yourself on this, rather than risk a revert-war, not least considering other good work you have done on the page. I look forward to your response on here.

Regards,

DM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.66.73.89 (talk) 16:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Wrestling

Daft refers to the content not the contributor. Cleaning up spelling is easy, I still consider going into details of classics to be completely the wrong approach when trying to give a description of a martial art/sport. --Nate/c 07:37, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

I've reverted your last edit to AFP because 1) American Police Force would not be shorted to AFP—at least not in English—and 2) XIV is not censored. Otherwise, thanks for all your thoughtful contributions. —EncMstr (talk) 23:14, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation page cleanup

Thanks for your work cleaning up disambiguation pages. It'd be great if you read MOS:DAB closely, there are a number of things you're doing that vary from the Manual of Style. I'd appreciate it if you could check back over dab pages you've cleaned up and have another go. Thanks! Josh Parris 16:39, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

The glaring problem is XIV:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Individual entries - Each bulleted entry should have exactly one navigable (blue) link to efficiently guide users to the most relevant article for each use of the ambiguous term. There are a number of reasons to do this; dab pages aren't information pages, they're for navigation; it reduces the cognitive load on the reader - a column of blue links to scan doesn't take too much thinking, but if the blue links are all over the place and merely tangentially related, their brain will melt; and automatic disambiguation tools pick from the list of links presented, so links on the page that aren't variations of the ambiguous term make working with those tools so much harder. I emphasize the last point because I use and develop these tools, so it causes me grief.
Anyways, that's a fairly fundamental one of the style rules, so if you're missing that one there's a good chance you're missing some of the subtler ones too. We've got over 170K dab pages, so it's just by chance that I stumbled across your activities; we certainly need more people keeping dab pages in good shape, but good shape is pretty much dictated by MOS:DAB and common sense. Feel free to drop by WP:WikiProject Disambiguation to say hi. Josh Parris 05:32, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Eyeballing it, yes (except for the one line ending it a punctuation character - Texas), and normally that's as far as I take it - none of the Goliaths are people with births/deaths, so that part of MOSDAB doesn't apply, there's one link per line, it's generally at the beginning of the line, so yeah, that looks fine (diffs might show up something different). It's funny how one acquires a very limited set of rules as guidelines as to everything being fine - if either of a couple of easy-to-break and easy-to-spot rules are violated, something's fishy, otherwise move right along. Josh Parris 14:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Having finally had a pretty close look, you did good. You removed Goliath (manuscript) which is currently redlinked, but pages link to the redlink so it gets to stay; note that the bluelinked item on that line (Fechtbuch) does link to it/mention it; if it didn't, something that did ought to be used in its place or mention inserted into the bluelinked article for Goliath (manuscript). Josh Parris 11:19, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Hometowns

I noticed that you removed numerous hometowns from the lead paragraphs in people's articles per MOS:BIO#Opening_paragraph. You've just been deleting the content. Please make sure that it exists later in the article. I would appreciate if you would go through the articles that you recently did and make sure it's in the text. I realize it may be in the infobox, but that doesn't count. Thank you! Royalbroil 02:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I've heard that you were right - hometowns shouldn't be in the lead by the birthdate. I'm just asking that when you enforce the MOS that you don't just delete it without making sure that it appears at the beginning of the first paragraph in the body of the article. I hope that I asked it politely! Cheers! Royalbroil 04:04, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Varzesh-e Pahlavani

  • There was nothing improper about removing the first image. I didn't like the other editors taste. That simple. In all fairness, neither image should be the "main" image for the article. The first picture being historical, but having little bearing on the modern world. In a historical section maybe, but not as the main image. I would argue that most modern practitioners of the art would find the image just as funny and laughable as would a modern boxer looking at an image from the 1890's. A modern image needs to be used, showing modern participants in a modern setting. This is neither a dead sport or art, and it should not be presented as such. As for the second image, I agree. It is a single private organization, and that image should probably not be used, but at that time it was all I had to go with. If you can help in finding some modern stuff, it would be appreciated. Pahlavani, and Koshti in Iran in general is an often ignored yet fundamental component to the styles found in both Central Asia and even the Caucasus, so any expansion is useful. This is, after all, not a "historical" article as you put it, but something modern with a long history. The Scythian 20:15, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

What is that - never heard of it? I might have a done little research in racing. You really should propose renaming major articles instead of just doing a controversial move without discussion. The sources that you cited were very weak - one was a blog and the other was a passing mention (not not very reliable). Modifieds are listed in the open wheel racing article since they don't have fenders on the front (a variation on half the car). I wish I would have had an opportunity to make my case. Royalbroil 12:17, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Harsh words for an Admin - seems personal likely prideful WP:PA WP:CIV.
a) I heard the term on NASCAR RaceDay - a television show on Speed hosted by Darrell Waltrip
b) If you haven't heard of this that does not mean the term hasn't been used at least since 1933? I appreciate your knowledge regarding racing but I'm sure that you are not infallible.
c) Blog? I cited a website that just happened to offer a reprint of the magazine named Modern Mechanix published by Fawcett Publications. The published magazine itself is a "reliable, published sources" WP:RS.
d) Open wheel? Modified means "to make minor changes" as in modifying a stock car to have a more powerful engine and no fenders. Where do you think the nickname "Modifed" came from? The sport did not begin it's history being referred to by an adjective.
I'm sorry, but your case is not compelling. Please do more research yourself before coming onto my talk page to insult me.

Any tips?

Any tips and such for a nooblett like me? --AlwaysGangster (talk) 01:08, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Hutcher. I just reverted a couple edits you made to the the family name template. I tried to write out my reasoning on the template's talkpage. I think the heraldic info pertaining to a particular family belongs in a family template, rather than the name template because names can be used by numerous different families. Gordon is a perfect example of that.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 07:11, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kamenice (Jizera), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.enormo.cz/pozemky-prodej-most-03_1_59_3070291. Hello (moisture)

Hi,

As i understand you hade some issues with the updates of the moisture, or you were asking for some changes? Am I correct and may you you explain more detailed what it was all about?

Karcih (talk) 22:32, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Ford torino talladega.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from XIV. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. , and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on XIV under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with XIV's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Denniss (talk) 06:27, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Tony eury jr w danica.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Tony eury jr w danica.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at XIV:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at XIV:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See XIV:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Denniss (talk) 06:29, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Nhl g johnson 300.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Nhl g johnson 300.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in XIV constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any XIV page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Denniss (talk) 06:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350, new Good Article.

The 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on June 20, 2010 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Contested over 110 laps, it was the sixteenth race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season and the first of two road course competitions on the schedule. The race was won by Jimmie Johnson, for the Hendrick Motorsports team. Robby Gordon finished second, and Kevin Harvick, who started fourth, clinched third.

Conditions were sunny at the start of the race, making the track potentially slippery. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner, but Johnson, who had started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Kahne suffered an ill-handling car during the beginning of the race, causing him to fall to seventh by the sixth lap. Seven laps before the finish, race leader Marcos Ambrose, turned his car off to try to save fuel, but he could not refire the engine and subsequently stalled. He dropped back from the lead to sixth place with seven laps remaining, allowing Kahne to finish fourth and Jeff Gordon fifth.

There were eight cautions and twelve lead changes among eight different drivers throughout the course of the race, Johnson's fourth win of the season and his first ever at Infineon. The result moved him up four spots to second in the Drivers' Championship, 140 points behind of leader Kevin Harvick and one ahead of Kyle Busch. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, nine points ahead of Toyota and forty-three ahead of Dodge, with twenty races remaining in the season.

File source problem with File:Nhl g johnson 300.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Nhl g johnson 300.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per XIV's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:57, 18 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. Article of the month – 2010 Food City 500, a recent good article

The 2010 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee was the fifth race of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The race began at 1 p.m. EDT on March 21, 2010. The 2010 Food City 500 was televised on Fox and broadcast on PRN radio. This race marked the last appearance of the rear wing on the Car of Tomorrow, with the spoiler returning the following race. This race also was the first of three in Carl Edwards' probation following his altercation with Brad Keselowski at the previous race at Atlanta Motor Speedway; Keselowski was sent airborne, subsequently crashing on his side door. The race had 13 different leaders, 39 lead changes and 10 cautions. The race attendance of 138,000 marked the end of a long streak of sellout seats at the track, which has a capacity of 158,000. The race had been a sellout since 1982.

Knights of Columbus banner vs logo in infobox

Can I ask why you changed the logo in the infobox to a picture of the fraternal banner? It doesn't seem to me that the fraternal banner is really a well-known symbol of the organization; wouldn't it have been better to leave the logo in the infobox and maybe use the image of the banner elsewhere in the article? umrguy42 03:54, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Carfax 400, a recent good article

The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third.

Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway.

The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article

Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams.

After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers.

Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. (More...)

Article of the month – Auto Club Speedway, a recent good article

Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) is a two-mile (3 km), low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1997. The track was also used for open wheel racing events until 2005. The racetrack is located near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway. The track is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation and is the only track owned by ISC to have naming rights sold. The speedway is served by the nearby Interstate 10 and Interstate 15 freeways as well as a Metrolink station located behind the backstretch.Construction of the track, on the site of the former Kaiser Steel Mill, began in 1995 and was completed in late 1996. The speedway has a grandstand capacity of 91,200 and 28 skyboxes. In 2006, a fanzone was added behind the main grandstand. Lights were added to the speedway in 2004 with the addition of a second annual NASCAR weekend. In 2011 the track will host only one NASCAR weekend.

Section headers containing links

I noticed your edit summary for this edit. Just a heads-up, the software was fixed some time ago, so there's no problem now. See Help:Section#Section linking, second bullet point under 'Notes'. I personally prefer not to have links in section headers if possible, but there's no longer anything in MOS to back my preference. HTH, and happy editing! --RexxS (talk) 00:41, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Although technically possible the MOS recommends against it. "To avoid accessibility problems, headings should not normally contain links, especially where only part of a heading is linked." MOS:HEAD --Hutcher (talk) 03:02, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
See if this link works for you: User:RexxS/Sandbox#Demo for Help:Section Linking. It does for me. As I said, the mediawiki software sorted out the problem some time ago, and that section at XIV:Manual of Style (accessibility)#Links is seriously out of date regarding the ability to use such headings as anchors. It's right about JAWS prior to version 7.1 though (but it's worth noting that JAWS 7.1 was released in June 2006, and JAWS is currently at version 12). --RexxS (talk) 03:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Sylvania 300, a recent Good Article

The 2010 Sylvania 300 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on September 19, 2010, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The 300 lap race was the twenty-seventh in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the first race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. Clint Bowyer, of the Richard Childress Racing team, won the race, with Denny Hamlin finishing second, and Jamie McMurray third.

Pole position driver Brad Keselowski maintained his lead in the first lap, but in the second lap Tony Stewart pulled ahead. Chase for the Sprint Cup participants Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Hamlin were in the top ten for most of the race, but in the closing laps all of them suffered spins or other problems. Hamlin was the only one to recover and finish in the top five. With two laps remaining, Tony Stewart was leading the race when he ran out of fuel, giving the lead to Bowyer, who also led the most laps in the race with 176. There were eight cautions and twenty-three lead changes among eight different drivers during the race.

The race was Clint Bowyer's first win in the 2010 season, and the third of his career. The result advanced Bowyer to second in the Drivers' Championship, thirty-five points behind Hamlin and ten ahead of Kevin Harvick, but because of a penalty three days after the race, he fell to twelfth in the standings. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-two points ahead of Toyota and seventy-four ahead of Ford, with nine races remaining in the season. A total of 95,000 people attended the race, while 3.68 million watched it on television. (More...)

Big Three DAB

I noticed you cleaned up the awful sports mess information on that page a while back. You might want to have a look at >This again. What a suprise. Unfortunately, this page constantly attracts vandalism and edits from newcomers who are either not informed about the MoS or have no interest in caring anyway. I suggest a more specific messeage in the edit box like an imperative, "Do not add any sports-related information to this page. Please refer to MoS-DAB." Something along those lines. It is probably the best weapon to use against unhelpful edits to a popular sports term like this one. Regards, BV 02:51, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Oh one more thing, I noticed this is a new project. Your the only author for the standards section so I'll let you get on with it as it is still a work in progress. I was just patrolling new pages, trying to help. Good idea. --Visik (talk) 06:00, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400

The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third.

Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as Edwards, who started in the second position on the grid, remained behind him. On the fourth lap, Edwards became the leader of the race. Hamlin, the points leader, before the race, spun sideways early in the race, resulting with damage to his splitter. Afterward on lap 73, Martin Truex, Jr. became the leader, but after the final pit stops Edwards was first. He maintained the lead to win the race, after leading 192 laps.

There were ten cautions and 25 lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race. It was Edwards' second win in the 2010 season, with the other being only one week earlier during the Kobalt Tools 500. Jimmie Johnson won the Drivers' Championship, 39 points ahead of Denny Hamlin. Johnson's team owner, Rick Hendrick won the Owners' Championship, and Chevrolet won the Manufacturer Championship with 261 points, 44 points ahead of Toyota. A total of 67,000 people attended the race, while 5.605 million watched it on television. (More...)

Very good and welcome to XIV. Your article really needs to follow the Manual of Style. Without this a number of other editors will have difficult questions regarding it's format. --Hutcher (talk) 16:21, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Please read Category:Category needed, which explains the policies and practices of the categorization project in further depth. Also, please read the Non-article and maintenance categories subsection of WP:CAT, which is quite explicit that stub categories are project-oriented, not content-oriented, in nature. And incidentally, there's no requirement that a person reply on their own talk page, rather than on yours — either approach is perfectly acceptable, and neither one is wrong.
