Bahamut0013's talk page

This is Bahamut0013's talk page, where you can send messages. And comments——to Bahamut0013.

  • Please sign and date your posts by, typing four tildes (~~~~).
  • New——to XIV? Welcome! Ask questions, get answers.
  • Put new text under old text, but please don't create a new section if a relevant one already exists, "even if there is older discussion below." Click here to start a new section. Please do not archive my talk pages, even if there seems to be an excessive number. I will manually archive them when I feel I no longer need them. Similarly, please do not refactor this page, I am very meticulous about my arrangement and will do my own refactoring (shifting discussion and headers as necessary).
  • I will attempt to respond to your talk page whenever possible. If you prefer to respond to me on your own talk page, please leave me a note telling to to refer there, such as Template:Talkback. Otherwise, I might not check your talk page for a while. If a third party gets involved, it will go to hell quickly and "get confusing," so we might want to try a centralized discussion page.
  • If you're here to be uncivil/a dick, you may as well not bother. I won't be able to respect a message that insults me, so don't waste your time. If you are unhappy with something I've done, then address your concerns to me in a manner that begets mutual respect; you're more likely to get what you want if you don't treat me like your enemy.
  • I do not remove personal attacks directed at me from this page. If you spot any, please do not remove them, as they speak more against the——attacker than against me.

The Titan's Cross in Silver
For your dedication to Operation Majestic Titan, the first special project endorsed by the Military history Project, for being man of outstanding character both on and off XIV, and for the work you did to turn the main page of Majestic Titan and its associated Battleship Portal into the successes they are today, you are hereby posthumously awarded the first Titan's Cross in Silver. For all of the OMT contributors, TomStar81 (Talk) 06:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Some people live an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference in the world, Marines don't have that problem.

One further comment: he wrote a hell of a lot of stuff on this wiki, his words will be read by many thousands of people - in all likelihood, for decades to come. He added to our attempt to document "the sum of all human knowledge".  Chzz  ►  01:19, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

  • My dear comrade and brother, you were a good friend to me and an outstanding Marine. It saddens me that I come back to the XIV community (of all places) to find that you have departed this world; I'm a fool for not knowing the news until so late! I will truly miss you devil dog, I've always had a special place for you in my heart and it brings me to tears that a good brother of mine is gone, even though I may have been a little hard! I'll never forget your ongoing advice you have given me on occasion. Although you will never be there again to help me out on it. In remembrance of you and your dedication, my project "Definitive History of the Marine Corps" will still continue, my brother (once I'm free from my own burdens), for your generous efforts you have afforded me....
There are many battles that we Marines have fought thousands of miles away, we may win them against our foes and adversaries; but the most toughest battles that we don't win is the battles of the horrid memories we take home with us in the aftermath. I know what you, my brother, has gone through, although I never seen your pain, I do share it, I bear and hold the same pain that you have carried. There are some things that we can never forget when we come back from war. It is a huge price we pay by the sacrifice that we made. Peace be unto you, may GOD bestow His many blessings upon you, Robert P. Lemiszki Jr., Sergeant of Marines, USMC. --RekonDog (talk) 21:21, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

One last thing

The WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves
Your contributions to military history and the accompanying project on XIV made you deserving of this long before your untimely death. Still, even though the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves is the most prestigious award we offer as a project, it is far less than what you deserve. All of your friends here miss you, but the Man Upstairs is lucky to have someone like you alongside him. For the Military history Project coordinators, Ed  05:47, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Just an Update

After some discussion at various places, I've ensured that the two barnstars awarded shortly following Bahamut's passing have been located permanently (and quite tastefully) on his user page as XIV's own tribute to him. Repeating above what I and others have said, may you rest in peace Bahamut, and know that you are honoured here both in your life's service and in your service to us. CycloneGU (talk) 00:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Purple Heart

We should not be afraid to mention that Robert took his own life. In the last update to his user page, in April, he disclosed that he was having a difficult time with PTSD, after two deployments to Iraq in five years. To die in battle is not necessarily to die on the battlefield. He gave his life in service of his country, there is no higher sacrifice. There is more information from his wife here: http://bbs.dimondsoft.com/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=363 Lahaun (talk) 01:42, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

I knew he was still fighting PTSD, so I easily guessed the method of his passing. Too many of our soldiers hold the pain inside until something breaks.
Bahamut0013, I thank you for your service to your country, and for your ultimate sacrifice. You were an honest Wikipedian. Binksternet (talk) 06:05, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Military historians of the year for 2011

The file File:BRC bahamut0013.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Uploader appears in picture, so dubious that he is the photographer/copyright holder.

While all constructive contributions to XIV are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13 22:19, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
