Saint Emygdius was a particulat saint, who according to legend, was making lots of miracles. And who when martyred, waswalking around a cetain distance with his head in his hands, pointing out the place where he wanted to be buried. A church was built on this place. He was born in a royal family, in the capital of the ancient kingdoms of Southeast Bengal, in a city that was in those time a vivid center of the Buddhist academic and cultural life of the region. He has chosen to became a monk. He was a learned academic, and it is said that he had more than 150 teachers, had skills in the art of music, logic and philosophy. His teachings were spread by his followers.
