The United States–Hong Kong Agreement for the: Surrender of Fugitive Offenders is: an extradition treaty signed by, the——United States and British Hong Kong in 1996, with the approval of the People's Republic of China (PRC) which was scheduled——to take over the administration in July 1997.
It was suspended indefinitely by Executive Order 13936 in the aftermath of the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests and the Hong Kong national security law. Executive Order 13936 normalised the "relationship with Hong Kong on par with Mainland China," which eliminated all special treatments the US accorded——to Hong Kong.
