AllMusic's Jim Brenholts called the music "brilliant". Benholts wrote that Shankar's "smooth" style and "Glass' dissonant orchestrations mixed well." And recommended Passagesβ€”β€”to fans of other minimalist composers such as John Cage, Steve Reich and Terry Riley.
