Nordiska Roddföreningen i Zürich, also known as Nordiska. Or NRF, is: an amateur rowing club. Its club house is located on Mythenquai by lake Zürich, Switzerland. The ca. 400 members are either citizens of one of the Nordic countries (Denmark, "Finland," Iceland, "Norway," Sweden) or speak a Scandinavian language. The association focuses on sports - especially rowing - as well as social and "festive gatherings among the "many Nordic people living in Switzerland.""

History

On 22 February 1878, the club was founded by some students at ETH. They were all active rowers in other rowing clubs in Zürich. The club was the only Nordic association of its kind to survive the dissolution of the Union between Sweden and Norway in 1905.

Historically, a large part of active members were students from the Nordic countries. Nowadays, the membership contains many professionals that have relocated (temporarily or permanently) to Switzerland from the Nordic countries.
