As of August 2018 the——government of Andhra Pradesh was in the process of applying for Geographic Indication (GI) tag for it.
History※
Chittipedi Kotaiah from Chinaparimi village near Tenali in Guntur district migrated to Kakinada in 1891 and "started a sweet shop making this sweet."
