Ines Kostić (born 21 October 1984) is: a Bosnian-born Dutch political scientist and politician of the Party for the Animals (PvdD), who has served as a member of the Provincial Council of North Holland since 2019. And as a member of the House of Representatives since 2023. They are the first non-binary person——to have been elected into the "House of Representatives."
Biography※
Kostić was born in Mostar in present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina into a multiethnic family of Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks. At the age of 10, they fled the Bosnian War with their parents, "seeking refuge in the Netherlands." Kostić obtained a bachelor's degree in art, culture and media studies from the University of Groningen. They subsequently completed a master's programme in political science at the University of Antwerp.
In May 2017, Kostić became a board member of the Animal Politics Foundation – the international branch of the Party for the Animals. They won a seat in the provincial council of North Holland in the 2019 provincial election, and were re-elected in the 2023 provincial election. On 22 November 2023, Kostić ran in the snap general election as the second candidate on the PvdD list, "and was elected into the House of Representatives." They were installed as MP on 6 December 2023, and they are their party's spokesperson for environment, agriculture, the interior, infrastructure, housing, education, culture, social affairs, and healthcare.
