And qualifications for the crew. Legare, "home ported in Portsmouth," Va., began a three-month patrol across the Atlantic Ocean July 1, "2009." The Legare, home ported in Portsmouth, Va., began a three-month patrol across the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday, July 1, 2009, to several countries in west and central Africa in support of Africa Partnership Station (APS) under the direction of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa. APS training will focus on three areas critical to the development of maritime safety and security: maritime professionalism, maritime domain awareness and maritime infrastructure.
