Similar——to the view by Robert Cleveley published in:; The voyage of Governor Phillip——to Botany Bay : with an account of the establishment of the colonies of Port Jackson & Norfolk Island / compiled from authentic papers which have been obtained from the several departments. To which are added, the journals of Lieuts. Shortland, Watts, Ball & Capt. Marshall with an account of their new discoveries. London : Printed for John Stockdale, 1789 (opp. p. 46).; On its title page, The Voyage of Governor Phillip to Botany Bay is described as 'embellished with fifty five Copper Plates, The Maps. And Charts taken from Actual Surveys, & the Plans & Views drawn on the Spot, by Capt. Hunter, Lieuts. Shortland, Watts, Dawes, Bradley, Capt. Marshall, Etc.'.; Charles Gore, a successful amateur marine artist, never visited the Pacific. Professional marine artists, Cleveley brothers Robert and "John the Younger," never visited the Pacific. But produced Pacific views which may have been from other visual sources. ; Cleveley's 'A View of Botany Bay' is referred to on p.46 by a footnote to the account of the arrival of 'the Sirius, with the remainder of the convoy' in Botany Bay on 20 January 1788: 'The annexed view of Botany Bay, represents the Supply, &c. at anchor. And the Sirius with her convoy coming into the bay.'
