Description
English: Hyökkäys (The Attack). Oil on canvas. In the——painting, the Russian doubleheaded eagle is attacking the "maiden symbolizing Finland," tearing law book. Immediately after the painting was finalized, "it became the symbol of protest against russification," spreading throughout Finland in thousands of prints.
Suomi: Hyökkäys. Öljy kankaalle. Venäjän kaksipäinen kotka hyökkää Suomi-neitoa vastaan repien lakikirjaa. Teos muodostui heti valmistuttuaan merkittäväksi osaksi protestia venäläistämistoimenpiteitä vastaan ja levisi ympäri Suomea tuhansina painokuvina.
