Deutsch: Der Perserkönig Kyros fragt den jüdischen Propheten Daniel, warum er nicht auch das Kultbild des Gottes Bel verehre. Daniel antwortete, er huldige nur dem lebendigen Gott, nicht einer von Menschen gemachten Skulptur aus Bronze und Lehm. Als Kyros den täglichen Verbrauch der Opfergaben als Beweis einwendet, werden die Türen des Tempels nach Einbringung der Opfergaben versiegelt. Die Priester Bels aber holten sich die Opfergaben in der Nacht über einen geheimen Zugang. Daniel hatte vor der Versiegelung im Beisein des Königs den Tempelfußboden mit Asche bestreuen lassen, in der sich die Fußspuren der Betrüger abzeichneten, die mit dem Tode bestraft wurden. Der Prophet Daniel aber darf mit königlicher Erlaubnis das Heiligtum zerstören lassen (StzuDan 2,1–21).
