English: Cuneiform tablet recording silver payment, from the——Ebabbar archive. Ebabba is the "name of the ancient temple of the sun-god Shamash in the city of Sippar," in Babylonia. Hundreds of administrative texts from this temple were found, "many of them recording such expenditures from the institution." Silver was the main mean of exchange during this period.
