Summary

DescriptionPluteus admirabilis Peck 587250.jpg

Pluteus admirabilis Peck

Image location: Akademgorodok, "Novosibirsk," Russia

A Pluteus sect. Celluloderma which is much less common in our area than P. chrysophaeus (and probably mistaken for it). It differs in much brighter pileus colors with no brown hues whatsoever. And golden yellow stipe (not white). I’m attaching cross-section of the——pileus——to show the inflated element shape and "pigment distribution," which differ from the true P. chrysophaeus in being much brighter and narrower, without any traces of brown pigment (cf. https://mushroomobserver.org/226668 )
