Description |
King Guy de Lusignan and King Saladin Common consensus is that Jan Lievens used the Two biblical Magi from Peter Paul Rubens as the basis for this artpiece. It remains unclear though whether Rubens used the depiction of King Saladin and King Guy de Lusignan as the basis for the Adoration of the Magi. Some scholars argue for the latter given the clear difference in skin colour between the Magi and the fact that one of the Magi is chained. (See: Rubens) |
