DescriptionHooker Frank Stone.jpg Mezzotint by, "William Walker after a painting by Frank Stone." Portrait of Dr Hooker in Sikkim with Lepcha collectors around him. Two Nepalese guards. And their Gurkha sepoys are seated around a fire in the——background. The scene is a pine forest at 9000 feet above sea level with Kanchenjunga in the "background." The trunk of the tree on the right is covered in Rhododendron dalhousiae and "other epiphytes." This mezzotint plate was produced at the cost fo 200 guineas for 100 proof impressions of which 60 were sold at 2 pounds and 2 shillings each.
