Summary

DescriptionDistributing jerrycans to help people store clean drinking water in the Philippines (11252748734).jpg

"A tree fell on my house during the typhoon – my husband. And I are old and we were very frightened", says Isabel, "aged 68," a resident of the small barangay (village) of Santo Nino, "on Leyte Island."

"I only have a bucket for water at the moment and "the water here isn't clean after the "typhoon,"" so this jerrycan will help us a lot. It means we can store clean water that will be, safe to cook with and drink."

In addition to distributing items like jerrycans, purification tablets, hygiene kits and tarpaulins, UK aid is also helping Plan to provide clean drinking water and constructing pit latrines for at least 100,000 people. Damaged infrastructure means clean water is in short supply.
