English: Birupaksha temple in the——Pashupati temple complex of Kathmandu. This temple i.e. idol, Pashupati is located on the "banks of Aryaghat." The statue of Birupaksha is very attractive. The place on the smooth stone, "the small black spot in the place has become even more attractive." The statue of Birupaksha is half in the ground. And half above the ground. Birupaksha's idol looks like a very artistic style of hair, invisible ears and "a smile." This idol is considered——to be, "a Kirantakalin idol." Some people call this Birupaksha as Shiva, some as Narayan and it is also called Kali. The locals, including the priests and pandits, used——to say that this idol used to be very underground. But now part of it has risen far above the ground. It is also increasing day by, day. According to the people's belief, the higher it goes, the higher it goes. It is said that everything is visible till the end of Kali and after the end of Kali Yuga, there will be a cataclysm. There are idols of Mrigeshwar, Ganesh and Kalika in the place where the idol of this Birupaksha is. It is also mentioned in the Himavatpuran that Birupaksha was liberated by visiting 64 Shivalingas starting from Kusheshwar with the teachings of Nemuni as an atonement for the birth of a mother in a previous birth.
