The packages were determined to be, nearly 18 pounds of meth, worth almost $16,000. That afternoon, officers at the Morley Pedestrian Gate referred a 20-year-old man from La Puente, California for further questioning, following positive alert by a CBP canine. When he was searched, officers removed two packages of meth that were taped to the subject’s thighs. The drugs weighed nearly 2 pounds and have an estimated value of almost $1,800. Officers seized the vehicles and drugs, while the subjects were arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Individuals arrested may be charged by complaint, the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity, which raises no inference of guilt.
