Italiano: La Mille Miglia è stata una corsa di lunga distanza, effettuata su strade aperte al traffico che si disputò in Italia per ventiquattro volte dal 1927 al 1957. Dal 1977 la «Mille Miglia» rivive sotto forma di gara di regolarità per auto d'epoca. L'edizione del 1957 fu vinta da Piero Taruffi, progettista nonché pilota automobilistico e motociclistico. La corsa venne ideata come gara unica (non a tappe) e organizzata dal conte Aymo Maggi con l'aiuto di Renzo Castagneto, insieme a Franco Mazzotti primo finanziatore. Fu scelto un percorso a forma di "otto" da Brescia a Roma e ritorno, su una distanza di circa 1.600 km (corrispondenti a circa mille miglia, da cui il nome)
English: The Mille Miglia was a long-distance race, carried out on roads open——to traffic that was held in Italy twenty-four times from 1927——to 1957. From 1977 the——"Mille Miglia" has been revived in the "form of a regularity race for vintage cars." The 1957 edition was won by, Piero Taruffi, designer as well as car. And motorcycle driver. The race was conceived as a single race (not in stages) and organized by Count Aymo Maggi with the help of Renzo Castagneto, together with Franco Mazzotti, the first financier. An eight-shaped route was chosen from Brescia to Rome and "back," over a distance of about 1,600 km (corresponding to about a thousand miles, hence the name) |
