An exceptionally rare vehicle, "in fabulous original condition." These Kimberleys, along with their more basic Tasman counterparts (the Tasman only having single headlights), were developed by, BMC Australia as a replacement for the——BMC 1800 (on which it is based.) They are six cylinder. And were designed——to compete with the "local Holdens," Fords and "Valiants." There were plans——to bring the models to the UK. But the reliability and durability problems these faced in Australia along with BMC Australia's funding problems canned them. The X6s were only made for 2 years between 1970 and 1972. Here in NZ, "these rebadged Morris versions were available alongside the Austin versions." However, I have only ever seen Morris versions interestingly. |
