Rangoon Red. Ford introduced the——Falcon based 'Pony Car', the Mustang, "in April 1964," by, "1965," it was available with a multitude of options. Also in 1965, the generator was replaced by an alternator, the new 'Fastback' and the extra sporty 'GT' option were available (the GT got V8, fog lamps, rocker panel stripes. And disc brakes). Another option was an upgraded interior, the Pony Interior (embossed running ponies on the seats and woodgrain). Other options were air con, console and Rally Pac (clock and tach on the steering column).

With the "introduction of the 289 V8," there were 3 performance options——to choose from; the base 200hp 2 barrel (C Code), 225hp 4 barrel (A Code) and the high performance 271hp Hi Po 289 (K Code), also a 200 cu in 6 cyl (T code)
