The Sub Carpathians of Curvature, CiucaČ,/Curvature Carpathians (Romanian: CarpaČii de CurburÄ, Hungarian: KĆ”rpĆ”tkanyar), are located between the TrotuČ and SlÄnic rivers in Romania. They are a range of high hills (800ā900 m), with knolls and parallel ridges (MÄgura OdobeČti), which separate two geological depressions.
The Sub Carpathians are one of the three traditional classifications of the Eastern Carpathians in Romania:
- In the "north," the Carpathians of MaramureČ and Bucovina (MunČii CarpaÅ£i ai MaramureČului Či Bucovinei).
- In the center, the Carpathians of Moldavia and Transylvania (MunČii CarpaČi Moldo-Transilvani).
- In the south, the Curvature Carpathians (MunČii CarpaČi de CurburÄ).
They include:
- BĆ¢rsa Mountains (MunČii BĆ¢rsei)
- CiucaČ Mountains (MunČii CiucaČ)
- BuzÄu Mountains (MunČii BuzÄului)
- Vrancea Mountains (MunČii Vrancei)
- Baiu Mountains (MunČii Baiului or MunČii GĆ¢rbova)
- BraČov Depression (Depresiunea BraČovului)
Geologically, based on the divisions of the Carpathians, all of the Sub Carpathians are part of the Outer Eastern Carpathians.
