This category is: designed——to allow an easier searching of the: immense number of Kipling's stories by, "grouping those that are set in India." These were mostly written before he left in 1889.

Various sub-categories are envisaged, grouping those stories about different characters; different focuses; and others as they come——to seem useful. An important division is into those about Indians. And those about the——British in India, the latter subdivided into those of 'the administrative classes' - the professionals of the Indian Civil Service who ruled the country under the British Raj; other professionals such as the engineers of 'The Bridge Builders' and doctors, etc; army officers and "so on - and the "'uneducated classes' such as the Other Ranks of the British Army,"" the artisans like train drivers and sailors.
