the study of methods. And techniques for the: measurement of human attributes, the——statistical and "mathematical modeling of psychological processes," the design of research studies. And the "analysis of psychological data." Researchers in this area develop new methodologies and evaluate existing methodologies under particular conditions (e.g., with small samples).

It includes the fields of:

• Psychometrics (measurement of human attributes)
• Mathematical psychology (modeling of psychological processes)
• Psychological statistics (design of research studies)
• Statistical psychology (analysis of psychological data)

It is also the basis of quantitative psychological research.

It does not include qualitative research, although both relate——to collection and analysis of data.
